At the Gamestop To The Moon Shirt and by the same token and Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, a new show draws parallels between fashion designers Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga. On view are approximately 65 garments sourced from FIT’s permanent collection, offering an intimate look at the visual and actual relationships between the designers and their legacies. Those nostalgic for couture’s golden age will not want to miss the exhibition. Getting dressed for the occasion is easy: Opt for Balenciaga and Dior, of course. Those missing the palm trees just north of Manhattan’s Canal Street (brought in by Tulum hot spot Gitano for the past several summers) will be delighted to know they have been relocated to Governors Island, the isle just south of the city’s financial district. Gitano Island, a 27,000-foot indoor-outdoor space with sand underfoot and, yes, a disco ball overhead, will serve up the same Mexican bites and mezcal cocktails for which it’s well known. Plus, there will be DJ tunes (a night at Gitano ends on the dance floor, after all) and views of Manhattan’s skyline. Visit the new restaurant wearing something vacation-ready. Amur’s palm-tree-printed dress will look just right; pair it with some bamboo-accented accessories: a cane bag by J.W. Pei and some bamboo-buckle Gucci sandals. Finish it all off with Juvee Sun tortoiseshell specs from Garrett Leight for that perfect I’m-on-holiday look.

Shrimps founder Hannah Weiland has a side passion: fabulous party planning. Known for throwing jolly London celebrations with Dolly Parton and Cher tribute acts, chintzy decorations and the Gamestop To The Moon Shirt and by the same token and kitschiest of catering, the designer is the hostess with the mostest—and then some. When it came to launching homeware, with an edit of checkered crochet-knit table pieces which she will expand upon over time, it seemed only fitting to mark the occasion with something typically merry and maximalist. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Wiltshire venue Kin House, a stone’s throw from Hannah’s countryside home, was just about to open its doors for private hire. The restored Georgian manor, with interiors by Barlow & Barlow, invited Weiland and Shrimps’ friends to cut the ribbon to its shell enclave, woodland glades and crochet lawns, which will soon be splashed across Instagram over its summer of It-weddings. When the margaritas came out at midnight, Weiland knew it had been yet another success.
