Hence, the t-shirt (which is definitely popularised by American culture) helps to make the traditional European shirt more informal. From these examples, it is possible to conclude that wearing a t-shirt with a shirt over it is not solely an American trend. However, there is evidence to suggest that American culture may play a role in influencing people to dress this way.
