The main reason would be that it’s incredibly difficult and time consuming to recycle clothes into new ones. You would need to be proficient with a sewing machine and of course you would need to own a sewing machine. Then you would need the know how to make new and also fashionable clothing out of your old ones. Cloth also has a useful life expectancy and many articles of clothing don’t use a high quality fabric with a high thread count so it wears out fairly quickly especially if it was to be recycled into not new but different clothes. But by donating gently used items you support a charity that usually employs members of the community as well as provides services or clothing to needier individuals. So if you lack the skills to make clothing and you are financially able to purchase new clothing then it’s the practical thing to do by donating clothes you will no longer wear and buying yourself some new outfits.

First they won’t fit, second probably worn out in the day, third most people out grow fads and things they liked. I still wear all my T-shirts. I wear them when the weather is good, and sometimes I wear them under my button-down shirt. Yes, I do. For me, it’s because I gained weight since I bought them and they no longer fit. I still have them because I hope to lose weight where they will fit again. There are definitely downsides to wearing old t-shirts! For one, they can be really uncomfortable and start to feel like they’re clinging to your body. Additionally, old t-shirts often don’t have the same shape or fit as newer ones, so they can look a bit slouchy and sloppy. Finally, the fabric of old t-shirts can start to pill and look worn out, which isn’t the most flattering. If they cannot be worn but have a nice graphic, they can be made into pillow covers or, of there are enough of them, they can be made into a throw or quilt. I’ve also made them into small items like coasters, mug rugs, tea cozies, small zip bags, eyeglasses cases, cell phone holders, koozies, etc. And. Of course, they can be cut up and used as utility rags.
